Thomas Merckx, a young and dynamic agricultural engineer joined the team late 2011 as a product coordinator, making sure that the many exiting and innovative projects on the drawing board will be translated into products even faster.
With a family interested in exotic animals, mainly turtles and tortoises, it didn’t take long before he developed a similar passion. After keeping all kinds of invertebrate and vertebrate exotic animals and several internships in zoos, animal rescue centers and breeding centers, his interest in reptiles and amphibians took over. Thomas has been keeping reptiles and amphibians for over 15 years now and is mainly specialized in frogs, especially poison dart frogs.
Thomas has lived and worked in South America where he studied these jewels of the rainforest in the wild. During this time, he also had the great opportunity to work in the Galapagos Tortoise Breeding Centre on Isla Isabela, the biggest island of the Galapagos archipelago, and contribute to the conservation of these endangered species.
